lyman bullet molds any suppliers in Canada?

That mould can be a pain to use but the bullet is a 45/70 classic and the very best deer bullet around, both Midsouth Shooters Supply and Buffalo Arms in the US would be happy to send you one, even To Canada.

This mould is the Gould Hollow point dev. before the turn of the century, it was and still is one of the best 45/70moulds for thin skinned game but.....for a new caster it is probably the toughest to start with.....it has a pin that forms the hollow point and it must be removed from the mould/bullet everytime you cast one bullet, it is very diff. to do this and keep the pin just as hot as the mould and the alloy, as it tends to cool very fast compared to the mould! You get good bullets when everything is the same temp.Problem bullets will look okay except around the point around the hollow due to low temp. of pin. By all means buy the mould but at the same time buy a 405gr. or so Lyman mould that is simpler to use, even these must be preheated or you will have to cast many before mould is up to temp. but when it is, lookout, you can build up a rythem and produce good bullets, when you have mastered a simpler Lyman mould try the HP one. If you have problems with #457122(Gould) contact me as I have some things that work for me, as this is a std. offering for MT Chambers Supply!!

Not to worry, you have to cast hot for sure but it just takes practice. You will get a lot of rejects and the a rush of good boolits. I find a bottom pour pot allows for faster pouring and a little easier to keep your mold hot. I find it is easier to cast hollow base boolits if you preheat your stem that forms the hoolow base by inserting tip in the melt.

Take Care
