Lyman deerstalker

I'm thinking of buying an inexpensive muzzle loader to play around with. I was thinking of either the Lyman Deerstalker or the Trade rifle, the deerstalker is shorter and has a conventional butt pad which is a plus for me, any thoughts on these Lyman guns? Also one other question, can you shoot shot out of these guns as well as bullets or balls? Thanks.

I have the Deerstalker and like it very much. I use a .495 ball, 15 th patch, and 80g of FFG or Pyrodex rs. The Deerstalker is a good hunting rifle, but the Trade rifle is more authentic. I would not shoot "shot" out of a rifled barrel. The Lymans are well made rifles, go for it.
