Lyman Gen 6 Powder charger

I'm very happy with mine. I think I've had it about 2 years, it's seen lots of use. I wrote a detailed review in Cabelas.ca about it and posted a picture. I placed it on a shelf which is attached to the wall so no vibrations are induced into it from the press'. Min has been solid and throws stick powder to within .1 gr every time.

I have one, very happy with it. It throws Varget quickly and with good accuracy, within .1gr consistently. I usually throw just under my charge weight and trickle up on a Gempro.

It’s the only electronic measure I’ve ever owned, but out of 10 I’d say I’m a happy 8.

2 things I’ve found to be paramount, as others mentioned, calibrate it every time but also turn it on and let it warm up for a good 15+ minutes. I usually turn mine on and leave it on while I size and prime all my brass before throwing powder.

The vast majority of the time it throws .1 grain under what I want, but it’s easy enough to account for that.
Only other complaint I have is it makes a bit of a mess when using spherical powders like Ramshot TAC. A taller cup would be preferable.

All in all, I’ve been happy with mine.

I have had a Lyman since they were Gen.1 (04 or 05 purchase near as I can remember) and shortly there-after installed the Gen. 2 upgrade . I am not familiar with what other upgrades constitute a Gen. 6 but I am very happy with my Gen. 2 version.

That being said however it does have some bug-aboo's that I very much happily ignore because of the much more important benefits I gain from it's use. As others have mentioned, a re-calibration sometimes is needed in mid-loading session (sometimes after 10 or 15 rounds, sometimes after 50 or 75...it will flash a "recalibrate" warning). As far as my machine goes, Muthafunk is half right when he says it they will throw stick powder to .1. Half right because mine will throw "some" stick powders to the exact grains I want every throw, 4759 and 5744 being two that I don't even set up a trickler for. However there are some stick powders that I use that the machine will very often over-throw by 1/2 grain or so...my remedy for this is to set the throw to .75 gr under what I want and trickle the rest...it's still 10 times faster than using a rotary powder drop & beam scale.
