I've been loading Lyman 525 slugs with Universal Clays/Win 12F114 wads in AA hulls, works great in my Ultra Slug Hunter but my supply of the old Win 114wads is almost gone. What are you guys using as a replacement for the old Win yellow wads (with Lyman slugs) and where are you getting them? I placed a WTB for the wads but even if I get some I will have to change the wads at some point.

There were two versions of the WAA12F114. The original/earlier version had a very short cushion section and was actually intended for 1-1/4 oz loads. The later "redesigned" version has a much longer cushion section and is almost dimensionally identical to the WAA12. The original version of the WAA12F114 is a better wad.

Downrange manufacturing makes a clone(DRA12 yellow) of the original version. Claybusters cloned the later/redesigned version.

Up till earlier this year, the DRA12 yellow wad was damn near impossible to find in Canada; luckily, Budget shooter supplies is now able to get them. I ordered a stupidly large quantity of these wads and I should be getting them some time this week.

OP - If you'd like a few DRA12 yellow wads for evaluation, I'd be more than happy to send a few your way.

Thanks for the info guys, the wads that I have been using are the old style Waa12F114. I do have the Lyman Shotshell manual along with a couple of others but my supply of hulls (all AA's) limits me somewhat. I have a supply of Universal and Unique powder which serves me no other purpose and both work well with the WAA12F114's. If the DRA12's are comperable to my old style WAA12F114 wads and I can get them shipped here I am happy. Thanks for the help.
