I now have one of these presses. It has 2 sets of dies with it.The dies only have a couple numbers on them that mean nothing to me.One set has 466 on the centre piece and 123 on the body, the other has 411 on the centre piece and 153 on the body.Anything you can tell me about it would be appreciated.

Glenn, google The 310 Shop. This fellow sells the old dies (they fit the press you have) and tools. He also used to have a list that he sold for $5 that crossed referenced all of the die #'s so you could tell what you had. Always meant to order that but never got around to it.

As far as I know 310 dies only necksize, I had a tru line jr years ago, I gave it away as I went to a Rockchucker.

Small thread turret spaced close enough make it next to impossible to convert it to 7/8 thread dies. They work fine for pistol as long as you lube each case.

I have one of those presses and I'm planning on setting it up as a permanent 30-30 press. May also set up another turret with 44mag dies. The dies are still available from Lyman (310 dies) and you can also get a shellholder adapter that will allow you to use new style shellholders if you can't find the older style.
For me it's just a novelty, as die availability is limited, and I wouldn't recommend basing a whole reloading setup around that press.

The die marked 123 is called a "double adjustable chamber" for .30-06..The centre 466 is a seating screw for a cast bullet for the .300 Savage.
Die 153 is also called a "double adjustable chamber" for a .270 Win.The centre 411 is the bullet seating screw for a jacketed bullet for the .270 Win.These dies will also crimp.
Hope this helps.

Lyman 310/TruLine Jr. Die #'s

If you or someone you know has one of the old Stoegers catalogues from the '50's / '60's they usually had a chart of some of the die numbers. If not, PM me and I'll snail mail you a xerox copy of one of mine ( not likely it will scan reasonably). Kayceel
