Lyman Universal Cutting Head removal

Anyone else having problems removing the cutting head from the universal trimmer?

its a used unit and it works great, but I want to remove the head so i can modify it to a powered unit.

I've hit it with some penetrating lube for the past 3 hours and no luck. I've also tried to spin it both ways to see if it would loosen up, no luck.

any ideas before i pull out the vice grips and heavy equipment?

Make sure the allen screw is backed out. Wrap a narrow strip of duct tape around the cutter - thick enough to protect it when you put the pliers on it. It shouldn't take much force, just hold the cutting head still with the pilers and and turn the crank counter-clockwise. Should back right off.
