M-14 Flashider is loose

There's a set screw and a castle nut that forces it down the splines. Do you have access to the proper castle nut pliers to tighten it?

First....it's loose...so congrats.

Second...as above, tighten castle nut and set screw to prevent castle nut backing out.

Is the castle nut or the whole flash suppressor loose? The obvious answer is to back off the little angled set screw (it is an odd half metric size Allen key), turn the castle nut tight and reindex the set screw. If no notches line up and just won't fit, try to polish a 30th of a 360 degree rotation worth of surface roughness off whichever end contacts the bearing surface, and try again.

You can use a cute pair of USGI pliers that have opposing pins to snag the notches. Or weld up a pair for yourself with some pin stock and a sacreficed pair of slip joint plier. Or use a small drift punch and light hammer to tap tap tap things around. I just a normal pair of slip-joint pliers and a gentle touch. It doesn't need much force at all.
