Hi guys,

I thought I would post photos of my setup on the new M-14S. Still waiting on 45ACPKing's stock to arrive to finish this off next week, but here it is right now:

Currently Norinco stock with UTG Tri-Rail handguard, 6" rail extension and an NcStar 2.5X to 10X variable mil dot scope.

Some questions on the setup:

1) what's the objective diameter on the scope? I tried a similar setup with a Bushnell 3200 10X40 mildot, and couldn't move the scope back enough because the underside of the scope bell came into contact with the rail extension.

2) does it hold zero?

Well, I'm afraid I couldn't take any photos of my groups, since I was so horrible I failed to hit the target at 100 yards :). I was firing way up and to the right, so I started adjusting the windage and elevator knobs, but after 5 times through I still wasn't hitting anything (though I was getting closer) and decided to call it quits since my friend I went with was starting to get cold.

One problem I noticed is that the brass occasionally gets stuck between the rail extension and the bolt. I think this will be fixed by moving the extension forward one notch though, and moving the scope back one notch on the extension to compensate. There's kind of a wider spot on the extension rail toward the front where it clamps on to the other rail, and that's what it was getting caught on.

I'll see if I can hit up the weekly rifle club meetings (since I got a membership with my range membership) and borrow a bore-sighting tool from someone to get a pre-zero before actually shooting it so as to waste less ammo. Also was another dude at the range when I went who also had a Norinco M14, so looks like I'm not the only one in town :). Worst case scenario I'll do it at the Winnipeg M14 clinic in April.

Got my new stock from 45ACPKing yesterday, and here's a couple photos of it. I'll post some better ones tomorrow, since these aren't very good, but I don't feel like getting the rifle out again tonight :).

Here's a couple of the new stock:

And here's one with my birds sitting on the rifle:

So far the new stock seems cool, though it's definitely not balanced like the other one, the front end is heavier now (can't balance it on the mag any more). Well made, 45ACPKING did a great job on the front rail. Now I just need to get the forward hand grip and a bipod and I'll be good to go.

glad you like the stock :D
i designed that version ideally for a shorty rifle as it does balance exceptionaly well in that configuration. Let us know how she shoots ;)
