I want to put a scope on the m-14 i'm going to buy but i don't have a lot of cash to put on the scope...SO...what to put on it???
I want to go for coyotes, and long(well! 300 to 400m.) shots for fun.
What i read was that these rifles are scope killers... I don't want to put 600$ worth of scope on a 400$ rifle, plus i don't have the $$
Does anybody have experience over that question?
What scope did you put on your M-14?
Is it still alive???
I'm going crazy over that question!!!

Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40. It has a ballistic plex for up to 500 yards and you can buy them on ebay from the states for around $200. The only negative I can think of is that the ocular lens rotates to change power settings, and that isn't really so great if you want to put pop up scope caps on.

Edit, oh yeah, its on a Smith Enterprises scope mount, so I'm probably around $460 into that aspect of the project, Scope $200, mount $200, rings $60.00

i have a knock off scope on one of my m14s rifles..... not sure if it a ncstar or not..... it's a 4 to 18 x50 and it has withstood 250 rounds from a bolt action 7mm magnum and over 500 rounds on the m14s. No issues so far and it cost 80.00 plus shipping from *bay. My regular shooter m14s carries a bushnell elite 3200.... but not under 200.00 unless you get a good deal in the ee on a used one. I think a shock buffer is a good idea on the oprod spring guide if you are running any kind of optics.

Bushnell 3200 fixed ten power with target knobs will run you about $240. I don't have one but have read good things about them.

Got the mounts? Rings?
"...Scope Under $200..." You get what you pay for. Low end scopes break faster than higher quality sights do. Save up for a good one.
"...E-Bay from the States..." Buying or selling anything on there supports the people who don't think you should be allowed to own ANY firearm of any kind. So does having anything to do with E-Bay.ca.

I put a Bushnell Sportview 3x9-40 with weaver rings on my M14....$60.00
Got that off the EE, from a CGN member in the area.
Was able to get a new SEI #2024 mount for $139.00 Canadian.
I know this mount goes for alot more now.....money well spent.
That purchase was a right place, right time, stroke of luck this summer.

So can a norky M14 be scoped and mounted for $200.00....sure can.

I have put almost 280 rounds on the M14....no issues with
the scope holding zero.....darn thing works great.
And the mount is rock solid too.

But you do get what you pay for when buying scopes.
Better glass........more money.

This CGN site rules......read, read and read. Pictures are good too.

Well I have never owned anything over 200 Bucks and I out shoot the boys with the big toys $$$ all the time check out Frontier Taxidermy & Firearms they are a supporting dealer to CGN. They have some knock offs and a friend who is a prof guide has used one of the leapers for over 5 years and it has never lost zero. I think knock offs have gotten a lot better over the years but even brand names break. my 2 cents

Thanks for your advises.
So the right thing to do is to buy a good mount and it should be fine with a cheap scope( 150$-200$ ) Right???
Since Marstar is only a 2 hours drive from my home and since i will go there asap to buy my M-14 it would be nice to buy the mount the same day. They're M-14 deluxe scpoe mount is worth 149$ and someone said he did not have any trouble with it (except for a bit of Loctite).
DO YOU THINK THIS MOUNT IS WORTH IT??? ANY OF YOU TRIED IT???

dude..... get an arms 18 from wolverine... they are 192.00 and not to knock marstar but i'm pretty sure it's a WAY better mount for the money..
also.... you can't drive to marstar..... well you could... but security will send you home once you get there...... mail order only my friend... for us civvies anyways

You know, for $50 more you can get one of the best mounts made. Go with 45APCKING idea, you will be alot happier in the long run. Like everone else has said, you get what you pay for with these rifles...
