m-14 woes

Howdy.

I have a m-14 m1a supermatch and was shooting at the kamloops service rifle match, and I had a trigger malfunction 6 times. I still did relatively well due to the nice .30 caliber friend wind :), but my trigger would occasionally stick on the final part of the pull and I'd have to sideways wiggle it and hold on target for the unexpected/expected boom. Where would I go to get an idea of what to do about this problem in canada? It is a match trigger group so I'm warry of shipping it to the US.
 
Does it have an overtravel adjustment?
If so, then give it a turn out and try it. You should be able to drop the trigger group out and try it out of the gun, see what is going on.
 
It is a match trigger group that doesn't work. Take out the trigger group and look at it to find out what's moving that shouldn't be.
 
Maybe you have a pin that has backed out, or is loose in its hole.

Second question, how old is this gun? Springfield Armory might need to become involved under the warranty.
 
Update

Well, I pulled it all apart and at last I found the problem. The trigger pin was broken in half. You couldn't tell from either side as it "looked" ok but in fact it was sheared and it was allowing the trigger to sit a bit ####-eyed and this caused it to not release cleanly. A little edge held up on the hammer. I'm going to replace the trigger pin, trigger spring, hammer push and the spring guide. So that no related problem will cause this again. everything else in the NM assembly looks new, hard to believe this little pin was the cause of so many tears....... :)

I suggested you look at the pins, and you found a problem. You can send my $100.00 troubleshooting fee to the Conservative Party of Canada.
 
Ha thanks "maple leaf eh", the only problem with politicians is the second they start talking you know they are lying. I think I'll use the $100 bucks to reload some more bullets for more practice. :)
