M-16 extractor on Remington 700 bolt

guntech-
Imagine the outcome if that SAKO pistol powder load was run thru a Winny,Salvage,Ruger,Bergara or any of the other cheaply manufactured rifles made today?

Any improperly machined SAKO extractor modified push feed bolt that I've had in hand to include from manufacturers that the extractor pivot counterbore was machined thru the body allowing witness of the firing pin is a refusal of services from me & is returned...w/ my finger prints wiped clean from said JUNK.

I've seen what happens in a Savage and it might be the only action I've seen that handles a catastrophic failure as well as a Remington 700 does. The one I saw was a 30/06 loaded with 56 grains of Red Dot behind a 180 Sierra. The Red Dot was purchased at a yard sale and was in a 4831 can. The receiver ring was swelled about 40 thou. The rifle was wrecked but the shooter was fine.

Interesting that the Rem custom shop happily fits and even seems to recommend the M16 extractor.

That's only very recent... and it isn't the small Sako conversion that many do.

And it isn't as secure as the original when it comes to blow ups...

In the .588" breech face Lapua.

The Rem Custom "Shop" in Ilion,N.Y.never installed a M16 pinned extractor.

The Rem Custom "Center"now @ Dakota Arms may have.

Thanks D.Kiff owner of PT&G for convincing Rem to install a pinned m16 type extractor in the .588" face Lapua bolt noses.
(he's also the individual that set up the CNC operation for Rem in Aniston,Alabama)

I think Remington really missed the boat when they made the Lapua on a 700 action... they could have easily scaled the action up slightly with a larger thread and a longer length and a larger bolt... and an original style extractor system to fit the Lapua case... then they would have had something... as it is the big case just doesn't do well on a 700 action.
