M-305 Bullet Tumble

Hey guys and gals,

Just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem.
I went out and put 17 rounds through my new M-14s and all was fine on paper from 50-166yds, my last 3 shots at 166 the federal 150gr .308 bullets hit the target tumbling, I immediatley checked the flash supressor and there was no scuffing so I believe it wasn't rubbed at all by the bullets, I then went and got 2 more boxes of 150gr's(Winchester and Remington) shot 10 of each from 166 and hit nothing but paper and the bullet holes were perfect. Has anyone else seen this happen with Federal Ammo? Thanks in advance for your replies.

You might have had bullets that were improperly manufactured from federal the other that is important what size grouping were you getting

I was pretty tired on Saturday and a little shaky so my grouping was very loose, all on paper at the ranges in the post but nothing real tight, no bench rest or bags, but let's just say they were scattered.

Bullets usually tumble because they're undersize or the bore is over size. Mike a few bullets and slug the bore.
