Are all of the semi auto M14 US GI parts or M1A Parts compatible with the Norinco M305??? or does norinco use diffirent threads or sizes????

Thanks

If you mean just building from the receiver up with USGI, then yes, the receiver is compatible. The op rod pin is a different size on Norcs, and the threads on the barrel's gas components are metric. Other than that, you're good to go and can put a USGI barrel on an M305. Flash hiders are interchangeable, but not the castle nuts, though I did have an M305 that a Smith direct connect threaded straight onto easy as pie. Just bear in mind as mentioned above before me if you want to go USGI on the gas system, you need to do it on the barrel too.

this is good to know I have a hard choice ahead of me.
Ether go with a M305 for $399 supe it up with Gi parts or go with a used M1A in VG cond. for $1300.
what do you guys think ??????????

I've already got my Douglas heavy barrel, USGI gas system, and TRW bolt. I will be using the rest of the Norinco parts except for the imperial threaded components I need on the barrel. Oh! I also have a fiberglass stock that will match right up. Can't wait until the end of the month!

I ve been reading alot about these M305 and how all you guys are fixing them up to be better then the U.S. M1As. Now I got the itch to buy one and do the same, Damd all of you!!!!! lol
I just bought a 300 page Book on how to rebuild M14s from brownells and all I have to do nexted is get a M305 as soon as they come in.

Cant wait :)

Dsiwy, you've been bitten just like most of us. I did my first 3 years ago and I've just ordered a second, they're definatley addictive, just something about an M14 that puts a smile on your face, can't explain it. What Ardent said about parts. With regard to M1A receiver, they're fine but they are cast and apparently sometimes it's a pain to get and ARMS mount on them since they're not exactly spec. (so I've heard), you shouldn' have these problems with the M305 plus it's forged. Myself I went all USGI and didn't have a problem, however my brother kept his ChinCom and it shoots just as good. I did get a 15/16" group w/168gr. with mine though that he hasn't been able to touch......yet!:D The only thing guys will regret about buying these is that they didn't buy two!

The only real differences between the Norinco M14 and M1A/USGI M4 parts are the following:

-Castlenut is metric
-Gas lock is metric
-Barrel threads for castlenut & gas lock are metric
-Gas pistons are different diameters. A norc gas system will work on a M1A and vica versa, but the Norc and M1A/USGI gas pistons are not interchangable.
-Op rod retaining pin is smaller in diameter on the Norinco

All other parts are interchangable.

So, if I had a chance to grab an NM M25 gas system, already unitized, this would work with my norc, but I'd need the NM/USGI gas piston as well?

Thanks,
Marco P.

it would work on your Norc, but yes, you would need a a NM/USGI spec gas piston.

Didn't we warn you that the Norc m305's were an addiction ? LOL

Wait until you buy them in multiples, like many CGNutters who took our advice, " Don't get ONE, buy TWO of them!"

Maybe it's just my stuff but where the gas system locates on the Norinco barrel, I measure 17.30 mm. On my Douglas heavy barrel, I measure 17.26 mm. I cannot fit the USGI gas system onto the Norinco barrel. Do you guys just pound them on?
