Okay, I just purchased my first M-305 and when I test fired it the other weekend it seemed to be working fine. Today, however, I took it out on my own and there seems to be a problem with the bolt. I believe more specifically the extractor. When the bolt pushes against the casing to take it out of the magazine it doesn't actually catch the cartridge. It just simply sits behind it and pushes it into the chamber. It looks like the extractor isn't adjusted properly or something and won't let the bolt grab onto the rim of the casing. Here are some pics..somebody please help!

Once the round is chambered and bolt is closed, does it grab it at that point? If so, there is no problem.

The extractor won't grip the rim until it's fully chambered. It's not a CRF rifle....

how do you do it??? slow or as it suppose to go - fast???
if you do it by hand - it will not grab the cartrige....just push the oper. rod forward....it will wokr....actually, it has to grab the shell during the shot...
try and let know....
I will check it at home :)))

Sorry... CRF is controlled round feed. The other kind is a push feed, which is what the M305 is in essence. CRF rifles grip the rim right away, and basically 'control' the round all the way into the chamber. If you half way chamber it, and then pull the bolt back, the round will come with it. Push feed does what is sounds like...just pushes the round in. The extractor doesn't grab until it's fully into battery.

Is the extractor spring broken or missing? Remove the bolt, and try to manually position an empty case against the bolt face. You should have to "lever up" the extractor with the case rim, in order to get the case head flush against the bolt face. You should feel fairly good resistance against the spring.

Also... check the end of extractor where it would grip the case rim - make sure it's not broken.

Okay..just trying it again here and I think it must have been the way I was pushing the op rod, not used to this type of action. Will let you know if problem continues.

With the M14 and the free floating firing pin, DON'T let the bolt fly on a round that you hand-fed into the chamber... The rifle is designed to strip a round from the mag and chamber it. Doing it the other way may cause a slam fire...
