Hi.
I've some M-95 Steyr cartridges in 8x56R caliber. The headstamp is divided in four parts. At 9 o'clock is the number 19 and at 3 o'clock is 38; I presume it means 1938.At twelve o'clock there is VIII and at 6 o'clock there is a german eagle holding a globe with the german cross inside.I would like to know what is the meaning of those last two symbols. The clip to hold the cartridges are stamped with that same little eagle holding a globe.
Are they collectible?
Thanks for writing back.

They mean 8, 1938, and then the reichsadler, sigifying that though made in Austria, it is after the Anschluss, or absorption of Austria by Nazi Germany, hence the eagle and the swastika. 8-38 is the most commonly encountered loading in Canada thanks to Century International, and they have a realistic value of 1$ a round. Though if you can convince someone they were made for hitlers bodyguards (like some dumbass did on Ebay) then a spent casing is worth 70$s....

Yes, these are collectible.

But large amount have showed lately and you will have to wait so it gets it's full potential value. also, it's better having (at least) the stripper clip, and even better the full box (wich shows the arsenal).

If it's the same as below, it's Gustloff-Werke Otto Eberhardt-Patronenfabrik
(P635).

I've a full box with the 2 clips. The difference with mine is that under the word "Patronen" is the letter R instead of Rottw.
Under the bullet picture there is something I can't clearly see but it is not an eagle and it is stamped "Stfbk".The wrapping paper is missing in the right bottom corner (date?).
