So I noticed the release of the restricted variant of the M10X (Click here)

This rifle is something I really want to want. But unfortunately every bit of research I do brings up one disaster after another or very short "reviews" where under ideal circumstances a reviewer cracks off an absolute minimum number of rounds or only uses 3 round groups (the literal minimum you can get away with) before declaring it an incredible rifle (random comment: they're always shouting and talking super fast, seriously why? get a better mic and chillout). Perhaps that is a little harsh but it feels like there are a lot of polar opposite videos about the rifle.

Previously detailed reviews/comments on the rifle always seemed to come up negatively with affordable ammo performing very badly and the rifle suffering numerous issues. Bulk el-cheapo ammo is what we're going to be using, lets face it we're not buying 7.62x39 for it's ballistic properties compared to 5.56. (I hunt with 7.62x39 and practice with FMJ, I know it's limitations and still love it but for shooting past 200m 5.56 wins accuracy and flat shooting wise every day)

M10x miserable fail and shame of M&M Industries (3 part series)
M&M Industries M10X-Z - Why did I buy this thing?
Here is a conflicting review

More recently videos/reviews have come out that seem to be a little more positive

M&M M10X-Z - Is it finally working?
M+M M10X 500 Round Update (and the new enhanced bolt) (NB: a 1000 round video exists too)
M+M M10X Accuracy Part 1: Range Ammo (7.62x39) (3 round groups only...sigh)

Review: M+M M10X in 2021 (short handguard) - Did they fix it?

I really would like to learn that this rifle has improved and that my understanding of it is incorrect. I've seen how overblown some issues with a new rifle can become and how they can dog the reputation of the rifle for years after it was fixed (anyone remember how everyone knew the AR15 was unreliable the AR15 and DI was seen as being on the online world in the 2000s?) so I don't want to throw away the thought of buying this rifle.

I started a similar thread 2 days ago for the same reason and have not gotten much helpful feedback. My guess is that the rifle platform is 99% sorted out by now. The 12 inch guns being newly released should not have reliability issues (I hope).

The new short handguard models have tons of new upgrades, such as low profile barrels, smaller break/comps, heat treated bolts, better finish, redesigned gasblock and system. Most that have reviewed this version have given it favorable reviews.

I was going to wait and get the 12" version as it looks so much better but given there is going to be a snap election sep 20th I've decided to go with the 18.6 NR, also for better accuracy

It could be the most accurate and dependable rifle in the world. I’m still not giving those pr!cks one cent of my money. There’s $500 Canada tax on these guns. If you were around for the Wanstalls preorder, you know what these rifles could’ve been and what this company thinks of us.

It sucks but our market is so limited that this behaviour has far less consequences than it might otherwise have. hat being said it's probably time to move on adn get more rifles in the wild or to buy from another manufacturer

From checking out the M10x Facebook group it seems that the newer ones work well and they’ve updated the bolt design and ship those to people under warranty which seems to resolve feeding and extraction issues on the older guns.

Lots of mention about pmags being pinned to tight as well and needing to be repainted slightly lower to allow the full 5 rounds to it and function.

Some piece also complain about norc ammo but burnal seems to work fine

5 round mag. 3 MOA.

Why not save $1000 and get a SKS in a chassis ? Hell you can get the SKS milled to run 10 round mags. 10 round mag, 3 MOA.

Who cares lol

I got one... So far about 600 rnds. MIne is weird, loves Norinco surplus and sometimes hicks up on Barnaul SP. Seems like overgassing with Barnaul a bit. I will tinker with gas ports to see if I can improve it. Accuracy - trigger is super light and like other were saying unpredictable brake. It shoots faster better that slower ;) More to come.....

Story time. I bought one because I loved the features and the look. Had it home for one night and read countless threads and watched many videos. The next day I brought it back. No way I was taking a chance on a $2000 rifle that could potentially be a project or spend months being shipped around and out of my hands. Last week I am in a retail shop and a guy brings one in he just got and is having countless problems with ejection. I'd love to have a perfect one and I am happy for the folks that do, but I won't spend my money on a rifle that has more negative feedback than good.
