So I noticed the release of the restricted variant of the M10X (Click here)
This rifle is something I really want to want. But unfortunately every bit of research I do brings up one disaster after another or very short "reviews" where under ideal circumstances a reviewer cracks off an absolute minimum number of rounds or only uses 3 round groups (the literal minimum you can get away with) before declaring it an incredible rifle (random comment: they're always shouting and talking super fast, seriously why? get a better mic and chillout). Perhaps that is a little harsh but it feels like there are a lot of polar opposite videos about the rifle.
Previously detailed reviews/comments on the rifle always seemed to come up negatively with affordable ammo performing very badly and the rifle suffering numerous issues. Bulk el-cheapo ammo is what we're going to be using, lets face it we're not buying 7.62x39 for it's ballistic properties compared to 5.56. (I hunt with 7.62x39 and practice with FMJ, I know it's limitations and still love it but for shooting past 200m 5.56 wins accuracy and flat shooting wise every day)
M10x miserable fail and shame of M&M Industries (3 part series)
M&M Industries M10X-Z - Why did I buy this thing?
Here is a conflicting review
More recently videos/reviews have come out that seem to be a little more positive
M&M M10X-Z - Is it finally working?
M+M M10X 500 Round Update (and the new enhanced bolt) (NB: a 1000 round video exists too)
M+M M10X Accuracy Part 1: Range Ammo (7.62x39) (3 round groups only...sigh)
Review: M+M M10X in 2021 (short handguard) - Did they fix it?
I really would like to learn that this rifle has improved and that my understanding of it is incorrect. I've seen how overblown some issues with a new rifle can become and how they can dog the reputation of the rifle for years after it was fixed (anyone remember how everyone knew the AR15 was unreliable the AR15 and DI was seen as being on the online world in the 2000s?) so I don't want to throw away the thought of buying this rifle.
