M is for magnum ?

i was told the M at the end of my serial# on my 870 means it is a magnum receiver is this true? i didnt know that

yes...At least on mine thats what it means

It should, the only difference is the ejector. Best way to know is look at the barrel, as long as it says 3" you're good to go. You'd have problems ejecting shells if the shorter ejector was installed.
