M&P .357 Sig

.357 Sig is noticeably pricier than 9mm or .40, being about on par with or slightly higher than .45 ACP. It's definitely easier to find than something like 10mm, and there always seems to be at least one online supplier who has a good amount of it in stock. But with only a handful of american agencies using it, it's always gonna be harder to find than the big 3.
Personally I love it. Shoots like a laser, very accurate with an ultra flat trajectory, and if the dirt clods flying off the backstop are any indication, it hits like a freight train. Recoil has some snap to it, but it's not as bad as a .40. The bottleneck cartridge design almost eliminates malfunctions with feed and extraction. I think it's probably the best autopistol cartridge available today.
But the 9mm has been around over 100 years and is good enough, so why change? That's all there is to it.
I just went a bought quality 9mm drop in conversion barrel for my G31, so I can just shoot both. Wanna shoot .40? Just get a factory G22 barrel, it'll drop right in as well - .40 and .357 mags are completely interchangeable.

I have an M&P in 357Sig...I bought it shortly after Obama [peace be upon him] was first elected and the Americans were going crazy buying everything in sight. The dealer had just the one M&P in stock and couldn't say when he'd get more, esp. in .40S&W [which is what I actually wanted]. I think S&W has discontinued manufacturing the .357, although barrels to put in the .40 guns are still around.
The 357Sig is an interesting round with some definite tactical applications, but as a sporting round it doesn't make much sense [expensive, hard to reload, not easy to find]. I replaced the barrel with a Storm Lake 40 cal barrel and mostly shoot that...I also have a 9mm conversion for the rare occasion I shoot that caliber.
Nope...not for sale. I doubt very much that it will ever be a valuable collectable, but I like having it.

i have a stable of M&Ps and the 357 is the only one im missing.
ive even gone so far as to call S&W and talk to them about making me one - no go.
if you really want one there are a bunch for sale in the states right now, there was a big police buy back from one of the state troopers who got out of the 357sig last year. so there are lots to be had down there right now.
youd of course have to have it then imported for $200 from one of the importers and then of course there is the exchange rate being crap.
while id dearly love to have one i think ill just settle for a storm lake barrel to scratch my 357sig itch.
