Hi

Interested in a M&P 9. Any issues? opinions? Is dark earth available in Canada, bets price, upgrades etc.

Thanks

Mine runs well so far. I only had it a couple months. Only seen about 2000rnds. ZERO issues.
Search around for a price. I ain't doing your work for you bud. I will tip you off that P&D has a deal on the range/carry kit. Its the way to go IMO if you are just entering this game. Just get ammo bud. Shoot. That is your best investment.
The FDE models seem harder to find, the ones I do see are the VTAC editions with the tritium night sights, and they are a bit more expensive.

Cheers.

I expected more from mine. Having failure to extract sometimes..... might be a mag issue still trying to narrow it down. trigger is alittle mushy and doesnt reset cleanly at all. That being said I have shot 2 other M&P 9's and to be honest they had nice triggers..... so bottom line I don't know what the hell happened to mine. I was tempted to throw it through the retailers front window though, but then remembered that these things are registered and they would fine out it was me :( called Smith and Wesson and waiting for something to be done.

I have put about 3 thousand rounds through mine with exactly zero issues or failures using mostly a combination of blazer and Winchester bulk ammo. Feels great in my hands and even better with the trigger kit in it.

It's also the best bang for your buck on the market right now when you buy the range kit. About $680ish gets you a pistol, 3 mags, gun and mag holster, speedloader and an excellent carrying case for all of the above.

Check Gagnon Sports as well, I don't see any on their site at the moment, but they usually sell the Range and Carry kit for 629.99

For upgrades decide what you are going to use the pistol for. Apex offers complete kits to improve and change the trigger. You want a constant 5#+ trigger the have a duty kit, lower pull go with the Competion Kit 2.5#s, in between, mix and match springs with the USB. Sights? Nights sights, Fibre optic or plain? Google is your friend. Check our the M&P Forum.

I am pleased with mine. Picked it up on the EE for $500 last year. It's very reliable, eats just about any ammo including my reloads. Out of 2,500+ rounds I have had exactly one failure: a double feed.

I agree the trigger could be better, and the stock sights aren't perfect, but these are easily and cheaply upgradable. I think the FDE VTAC model looks awesome, but I question the value over the standard kit.

The M&P's are fantastic guns. The only thing you have to watch out for is "frame sag". It doesn't affect all models. It is more pronounced on some more than others. It does not affect the function of the gun at all, so if you do experience frame sag, your gun will still work flawlessly. Google it.

The "frame Sag" you are seeing is not sag at all but how the pistol is made. The slide angles upward. Take a ruler to the first picture and lay it on the frame and you will see the frame hasn't sagged at all. It is an optical illusion.

I have the VTAC. Overall, like the pistol, like the looks but if I were to do it again I'd go with the standard range kit. The VTAC sights are cool but I've read a lot of people have had issues, including myslef. S&W also makes a FDE/Black two tone M&P9 that is exclusively available through Cabela's. I contacted Cabela's Canada to see what the availability was north of the border and they said basically non-existent at this point due to demand.
If you want to gamble and pay the extra money for the VTAC fill your boots, the sight issues are hit or miss it seems but I no longer think it's worth the extra money. That being said, S&W stands behind their products and backs their warranty, my sights have since been factory repaired and I'm hoping there's no more issues. The link below is for my VTAC review. Cheers!

40,000++ rounds between 2 M&P9's and an M&P45. No issues that weren't attributable to ammunition. I've had 2x squib loads (my bad) also had 3xFTE, (the brass had been reloaded so many - I'm thinking 12 or 14 - times it no longer had enough rim for the extractor to engage), and one round that wouldn't chamber (OAL was out to lunch long). The vast majority of these rounds (about 32,000) were fired through my current M&P9. It still works great, looks great (well, you know, for a black plastic pistol) and will outshoot me with any bullet weight.

I can't compete with enefgees mini review but then again, I don't think many people can! w:h:
I bought a used (150rds) M&P9 model with the magazine safety. Have only taken her out once but she went through 750 rounds in one sitting without a single failure of any kind. I was very impressed! If you're still on the fence, just hop off and buy one. Never say never but I never want to get rid of mine!

I have an M&P pro and it has been awesome. The round count is "lots and lots". Absolutely no issues or malfunctions, I recommend it.

Good point Bob...

People complain about Frame Sag on a M&P, Pignose on Glock frame seem to forget that these are polymer frames that probably cost 2 cents to inject.

Just bought one at P&D today. Price was right and service was good too. Glad to hear all the good reviews. Can't wait to get it out to the range and give it a try!

The range kit is probably the best value for money on the market right now - you get everything you're going to want in one package at a great price. The holster is actually decent too, sometimes the holsters in "kits" suck.
