I really don't like the trigger on my M&P. I'd like it to be lighter with a more definitive break. Out-of-the-box, it feels a bit "creaky/spongy". I'd like to remedy this.

I've used the search function and see several people have installed the AEK for their M&P pistols. With the new higher price import limit, has anyone installed both the Action Enhancement Kit and the Forward Set Sear & Trigger? Any other adjustments or parts you'd recommend?

Is it worth it to do both or would one or the other suffice?

I installed the "Forward Set Sear & Trigger". It proved to be a huge improvement. The USB it comes with is a big part of the equation.

Be advised that Apex recommends that it be installed with the later model sear block housing which has a larger diameter return spring. I ended up replacing my sear block housing as well.

I installed the AEK kit with the duty/carry springs and couldn't be happier. Much smoother and consistent pull, even with the stock trigger.

I've used the Comp kit and was a little disappointed with the trigger return, it was very soft and felt slow. I ended up using the stock springs, which gave about a 4 lb break with better feel and reset. The gun I'm using now has the duty kit. As far as the Forward Set Sear goes, this may sound dumb, but I like the take up on my M&P. The take up (once smoothed out) let's me look at the target one last time, make the decision to fire, (up until I hit the break, it can all be stopped) then as soon as I feel the stop, it's on to the front sight and work the break and reset. It's like a pre-flight while the slack comes out, as the gun is being pressed on to the target, and then when you hit the trigger break, just before full extension, you're going.

I installed every APEX kit and it has transformed the trigger. Do NOT forget the RAM, it makes the reset deliciously positive. I've had a high end 1911 connoisseur shoot my M&P and he was shocked by the trigger.

Curious if all M&P's benefit from these mods or are the Pro and CORE models already improved? Just asking because I have a CORE on order....

PRO series guns (which the CORE falls) are improved - but still can be improved.

That said I can shoot my stock CORE a lot better than some folks shoot custom worked guns.

At the end of the day if your outrunning the gun, then get it worked on, if you can't, then spend money on practice and coaching from some good instructors.

Thanks KB, The chances of me outrunning the gun are slim to none so shoot it I will. Never even thought about an instructor, may have to look into that.

I have an FFS kit on the way but I'm pretty sure my gun has the old sear block assembly. Can a gunsmith modify my existing sear block assembly or do I have to somehow find a new one? Nobody seems to have the new sear block in stock.
