M&P Apex trigger upgrade.

If you have a recent M&P, the odds are you will have a decent factory trigger. My M&P9c has a crisp but albeit heavy trigger (6-7 pounds) and a positive reset. I only put the APEX aluminum trigger and FSS kit in my full size because I had the dreadful Massachusetts model with a 10lbs trigger. The new guns have acceptable triggers. I wouldn't drop 2-3 hundred dollars on one unless you find it abhorrent.

Actually, I did find it pretty good. I've only shot it once so far but I was pleasantly surprised. The M&P22 wasn't as good.

I got the gun in December, but it took until now to get my range membership and ATT.

I had a M&P 9 with the trigger upgrade and my buddy had the new M&P range kit. It was like night and day difference. He got the upgrade kit from brownells , cost about $130. It was a huge improvement.

I had an older M&P 9mm, and the trigger was pretty spotchy. I had the Apex kit in it and it made a world of difference.

However, I sold my 9mm and bought the .40 (I use them at work so I wanted something I could practice with outside of work in order to stay sharp), and maybe because it's a newer model, but the trigger feels great.

There's the Apex "Action Enhancement" kit, which improves the over travel and takeup characteristics of the trigger. Then there is the "Competition" kit which reduces the trigger pull weight. Both together are about $190 but with a new trigger and sere it can be as high as $320. So with the pretty good trigger in the newer guns (mine was purchased in December/January) I'm wondering how much improvement there is and if it's worth the investment. And which kit is the most effective for the price.

I'm pricing them at Amazon.ca for convenience, but I would shop around before buying.

My m&p9 is a newer manufacture and has a decent trigger as far as sponginess and reset. The pull is friggen heavy as sh.it though. I'm considering putting the apex dcaek. I ran a 5"pro with the factory apex trigger and my groups were significantly better.

Competition kit,$130 from brownells , it's a great improvement . If your looking for tighter groups you'll need a set of adjustable sights .. Or a diff gun .:)

I put the DCAEK in my M&P 40 over a year ago (maybe a few years now?) and it made a big difference, the trigger is light and crisp (about 5lbs or less) with a much shorter reset. The reset is still not very tactile or audible, you kinda have to just get used to it and know where the reset is.
Overall, big thumbs up. Very worthwhile upgrade for the M&P.
