sorry to see it end, it was a good ride. Todd said in the comments section the gun still ran fine and was OK'd by S&W to continue firing but the Lawyers did not want the liability of someone shooting a gun that had a known broken part. From the sounds of other comments made on the site there is some new test in the works, maybe with a .45
That gun wasn't properly cleaned for most of the test either, most of the photos of it show caked on powder residue. Of course if you do crack your slide, the gun has a lifetime warranty - Smith will replace it for you
I wonder if the recoil spring had be replaced as required if it still would have cracked the slide. Should of slapped a new slide on it with at the parts off the original slid and kept going with the test.
