Hello all. I've had my M&P 9 for a couple months and can't complain. It's accurate, a breeze to clean/strip and for my budget was a perfect price. BUT my frame seems to be fading to a blue-ish gray. Several guys at the range have the same gun and all the polymer frames seem to vary in color slightly but mine really stands out. All I've used to wipe down the frame is a Hoppe's silicone gun rag. I use Break Free CLP to clean/lube the internals and haven't exposed the frames to it. Yeah so it's an easthetucs thing. But still, it's friggin blue. And another thing the little knob on my frame tool keeps getting chewed to sh*t. But S&W customer service just keeps sending me new ones. Any body in the same boat. Or am I the only one lucky enough to be experiencing this color change?

I had my M&P 9 for more than 2 years now. All the polymer frames are ok, the color are not fading or turning blue.

When I clean my gun, I always wear latex gloves to protect your hands from grease and protect your gun from grease off your bare hands. Like you said, I wiped it down with silicon rag after cleaning.

I haven't noticed anything like that with mine (had it since April '07) it looks black to me. But I never oil the frame. Can you post pics?

what frame tool are you talking about? the one you remove to change backstraps? I only removed it once ot twice.

I have a M&P40 from one of the first shipments into canada. I've subjected it to brake clean, hoppes #9, butches bore shine, wipeout, and various gun oils and it's still just as black as the first day I've had it.

What does S&W say about it?

Hum.... It may also be a good selling point at the EE.

" Rare M&P for sale, 9mm with factory shadow blue finish, limited addition. 100% perfect in everyway. Price is %^&# shipped. Please email for pics."

Just kidding, I won't accept a "blued" plastic gun. Talk to S&W to see what they can do.
