So...I have midget hands...and even though the small backstrap works for me...BUT i realized that if i removed the backstrap the grip would feel even more comfortable. What do you guys think, is there any issues that would come up if i were to do so?

It wouldn't feel very good with no palmswell on there at all because basically it's all exposed but mechanically speaking, there would be nothing bad or unsafe about shooting it like that if the feel doesn't bother you.

The reason why I don't want any palm swell is because my thumb can't reach the slide stop or magazine release without shifting my grip. I've read somewhere from magpul that shifting grips is considered 'bad' as you have to regain the grip after reloading.

I am not some kind of pistol guru or anything, but I think you are barking up the wrong tree here.

There is a huge debate over using the slide release vs racking the slide...my personal take is that on a pistol with a small slide release like the M&P, you should not be trying to use it for anything.

Shifting your grip to reload is pretty common.

Whatever you think you are going to gain from removing the backstrap, you will lose way more by having a weird grip.

I don't remember reading/hearing that from Magpul, or any reliable training source.
You having to shift your grip to drop a mag means that you won't drop one while pulling the trigger.
Think of it as a bonus that has been engineered into your pistol.

The m&p has one of the smallest grips on a full size gun. If you get used to shooting it with half the grip missing, how will you ever shoot a gun without a removable back-strap or palm-swell?

Racking the slide with your reaction hand works on all pistols.

I think more than anything shooting without a backstrap would be pretty uncomfortable - but you could fill the cutout shape with body filler and end up with a better feeling smaller grip. As long as you're not getting too much trigger, it's all good.
