M&P9 Range kit vs. CZ75 SP-01 for IPSC and/or 3 gun etc.

There is a shortage of new SP-01s in the Van area right now. A friend went to a store in Van to order one. They told him it would be 6 months and they could not give him updates or confirmation about it. Also the price they quoted on the CZ is waaay over the OP's quoted budget before tax.
Spoke to my friend last night. He will cancel his order and look on the EE if they don't have an answer for him by Jan. He is new and doesn't have EE access yet.

I'm not an IPSC guy but if budget is a concern why not a CZ 75B? They seem to be around $200 less and the biggest difference is the light rail. I've seen them semi regularly used in the EE for around $600.

The rail, but also the sp01 shadow Has no firing pin block, the trigger is much crisper and lighter, that really is the main advantage, the trigger has a much shorter pull and reset, can be ran much quicker and easier to shoot accurately than the standard 75b. Not to say it's not a very good gun, it is, just not as suitable for competition.

For a guy starting out the M&P will do fine for several years, as you will most likely be a D shooter and will work up to a C the gun will only be an issue if it is unreliable which neither of these are.
The M&P will be simpler as you won't have to stress out as a new shooter over rolling the hammer at LAMR and its DA only so no DA/SA differences to get used to- its simpler and it will be accurate enough to start.
If you swap the M&P trigger it will not have a good home in IPSC and the minute you start spending money on it you lose its only advantage -cost.
If you test both remember that the M&P has multiple grip inserts so try a few to see what works best for you and the CZ's factory rubber grips do not fit everyone- I found I did not like the pistol until I installed aggressive checkered aluminum grips so handle one of those if you can.
A poor shooter with a CZ will not beat a good shooter with a M&P but a good shooter with each the edge goes to CZ.
The CZ is better in everyway, but that costs- or troll the EE.

Bullseye, the cz wins every time for me. Hands down.
Combat shooting sports, the m&p drives better for me and I score higher with it. The m&p doesn't shoot 1" groups at 25m but it's accurate enoughto get the job done, and I find it comes back on target quicker and points naturally.
