Hi guys,

I apologize if this has been covered to death but a search turned up nothing.

Just looking to find where to but a Shcuster or Mccan adjustable gas plug for an M1 Garand.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just load your ammo with IMR-4895 powder and bullets in the 150 to 173 range, keep to military performance specs?

Your rifle will appreciate it, it is cheaper than commercial ammo PLUS an adjustable plug, and it's what the rifle was built to handle.

Stick with more-or-less Service specs for ammo and there is no NEED for an adjustable plug. They only become useful when you're trying to run hot-rock loads or loads with heavy bullets and slow powders..... through a 70-year-old rifle which was never designed for such.

Think about it.

I couldn't shoot at all if I didn't reload.

Buck and a half for a round that I can load myself for 60 cents AND have MUCH more accurate ammo. And that's the cheap stuff. TRY shooting a '95 Mannlicher or a '71 Mouser or a Snider: ammo is $3, $4 and $10 a shot respectively. And I can reload two of those for 20 cents a pop.

It's definitely the way to go. Otherwise, you're just throwing away good brass that guys like me pick up and re-use 10 or 15 or 40 times.

Lots of help available...... and '06 is one of the easist and cheapest rounds to load.

Yeah fair enough, I am still relitivly new to shooting (4-5 months) and the only thing that freaks me out about it is the huge margin of error.

I have for sure thought of it and I have saved every peice of .303 and .30/06 I have ever fired for when I inevitably take the plunge haha, but for the time being I just kind of want the $40 peace of mind on a $1200 rifle.
