m1 cabine barrel

they used to be available but now i think can not be exported from the US. your best bet is to post a wanted to buy in the EE. maybe someone has an extra one they have not used.

There was a gun in the EE who had barrels and other parts for sale a couple of days ago. Maybe check there.

Contact bits of pieces in BC, they can reline your barrel making it 19" long, they quoted me about $225 for it plus shipping and taxes a few months ago.

What does "reline" a barrel mean?

They take your barrel, drill it out to a specific diameter then they solder or epoxy in a thinner barrel ( called a liner ) and cut the chamber for whatever caliber the rifle is. If it is done well it is difficult to even tell that its not the oringinal barrel. Its done quite often on .22's and has been done with sucess to M1 Carbines as well. If anyone is interested, PM me and i can send pictures.

please DO NOT wreck/bubba a USGI carbine (if it is a usgi one) find an aftermarket one to bubba

Unfortunatly it is a USGI model. But the reason behind changing the barrel is because it's so heavely corroded from ww2 ammo and neglect ( was kept uncleaned in a garage for 10 or so years) that you can't hit s**t with it and I'm sorta scared to use it mutch. So I have to replace the barrel to give it a new lease on life. Since I'm swaping the barrel might as well get it over the non restricted side.

I agree that it's sad to break up an all match original package but I find it even worst to leave it unused in the back of the safe because it is unsafe to use or even wrost to scrap it (witch I would never do anyway)

Thanks for the info guys I'll be looking up the info

just be warned

if you put a longer barrel and make it non restricted the cfc/rcmp WILL NOT allow you to return it to restricted later IE restore it with the correct usgi barrel
