M1 carbine barrel band

Hi, i'm trying to change the barrel band on a Inland M1 Carbine. There is a key on the end of the barrel that the front sight slides on. How can I remove it to allow the barrel band on?

The front sight key is staked in place. Put the barrel in a padded vise with an inch or so sticking out and give the key a tap with a hardwood dowel or brass punch towards the rear and lift it out. The reverse to put it back in then stake the rear end of the key to keep it there.
