M1 carbine barrels who make 'em?

I am thinking about custom barel for my M1 carbine. I know its not just a straight pipe and I haven't seen any ready-made barrels anywhere. Looks like a lot of milling involved if I am going to have one custom made. I wonder if someone has everything already set-up or some kind of pre-made blanks or something like that.

I know, it does not make any economical sence but, for some reason I would like to have a good carbine with heavier profiled barrel, possibly fluted too.
 
Wellllll, don't know about 22lr but for myself, I went and bought a M1 carbine with an aftermarket 19" barrel. I then went and bought one of the Ultimak scope mounts (one that replaces the upper handguard) but it won't fit on.

Seems the aftermarket barrel dosen't have the same profile as a GI barrel. The aftermarket barrel is straight across from the receiver to the gas port whereas the GI barrels slop down after a cm or so and are about a half cm shallower up to the gas block. So myself I need to have a new 19" barrel made up or find someone to remove some of the metal to profile the barrel more like a GI.
I also wanted the sight moved back further so it would end up in the same 17.5 " area it did on the GI barrel rather than at 18.5". I'd like to put one of the type 3 barrel bands on so I can mount a bayonet but as it is now with the sight so far out the bayonet won't reach the mount.

I guess I need some one with a lathe that can do barrel work.
 
good to know the non-restricted barrels dont work with the ultimak mounts, was thinking about doing that to one myself

wouldnt it be easier to shave material off the mount rather than the barrel?
 
Nope. Trust me. I looked at that. The amount of material left between where the metal of the handguard is horizontal to where it goes vertical for the rail wouldn't be stong enough for a .22

They made it as shallow as possible so you could use the iron sights.

What's the web sight. I've seen them mentioned before but couldn't find them.

Now when you say they have the barrels, do you mean they have barrels for a M1 Carbine or just that they have barrels for rifles chambered in 30 Cal Carbine?

I didn't see anything on their sight for a M1 Carbine.

I have the same question, I actually PM'd Barry but he is probably busy as usual. Will have to give him a call. On upper hanguard-mounted optics - why bother? It is as bad as SKS receiver cover mounts, very sloppy thing, there will be accuracy issues. Trade ex has some rear sight dove tail mounted scope rails, not perfect either but with some simple modification works fine.
