M1 Carbine folding stock

They're not supposed to send them from the states either because they are an "assault" rifle.

I ordered a paratrooper stock from Sarco inc. Came in just fine!

Darn you. I just contacted Sarco a couple weeks ago about one and they told me they couldn't ship to Canada. :(

I also PM'd John here on CGN about Marstar getting some in... no response. Then I emailed Marstar directly to enquire..... still no response. Been a week now. I really hate to email again.

I'd like to put a folder on my Win M1 Carbine so add me to the list if anyone has any info about where to get one.

winchester NEVER made paratrooper stock m1 carbines...just for your info

Inland was the ONLY maker made approx 140,000 if i recal correctly

Most repros are inletted for the m2 parts orig stocks were NEVER made for m2's (some we field modded by huey pilots for a cockpit gun in vietnam)

an orig stock will set you back $1000.00+ IF you can find one

nobody has repros in stock

the foldrs are not that cool anyways I own 3 orig inland paratroopers and i really prefer shooting the wood stock...... NO they are NOT for sale...

Ya I know Win never made the para stocks but the stock on mine isn't origional anyway and it's pretty beat up and I like the look of the para. :D

A repro para would be perfect for me..... just need someone to bring them in..... Marstar help!!!

You're going to have to phone Marstar. Repeatedly. I faxed an order in, and saw that after about three or four days they hadn't charged my credit card. I emailed them and they told me they had received my order. A few days passed, and still no response.

It took my a couple of calls to even get through and after three weeks, I finally did get through and they charged my card the next day.

Marstar carries a good selection, but considering their slow response I sometimes wonder whether its worth dealing with them at all.

This is possibly the most angry-looking response to a question I've seen yet.

Nope not one bit angry

just used caps as too many guys insist thier m1a1 carbine made by companies other then inland is all orig

the poster did not take offence to my answer so why would you?

<sniffle>

But I did take offence... :( I was so upset I cried all night.

I think selling me one of your 3 para M1's for say $700 would make me feel alllllll better though. :dancingbanana:

Really though, I can understand someone who owns three originals getting a little upset about armchair armorer arguing about who made what to go on where.

On the other hand no one actually said they wanted an original stock to put on their original M1 to pass it off as an original para.

And as for the straight stock being more fun to shoot that may be true as well... but since I haven’t had the chance to try one yet... :)
Besides, I'm huge, with great big hands and I'd like to try the para stock which would move my huge hands down and away from my nose which sits almost on top of my hand when shooting it.

I bought the M1 at an auction cause I always wanted one. It's a WWII Winchester but has been arsenal refinished so I'm sure a lot of the parts in it aren’t Win anymore. It's also had the longer barrel added at some point to make it non restricted.
I was considering doing a restore on it but since the US has labeled it an assault rifle (LOL) it's too bloody had getting the parts out of the US to do the job right. If the war ever ends and the US goes back to playing nice then that might become and option again.... or if someone knows of parts in Canada. But for now I just want to replace the crappy stock it has now and have fun with it as a plinker.

list off the markings on all your parts and ill tell you what is win or not along with the serial # range (leave off last 2 #'s)

98% of carbines were rebuilt I have many with the orig flip rear sight and push saftey the were supposed to be upgraded but got missed somehow

Most carbines you see today are mixmasters as long as they have usgi parts your ok quality wise through I really do not like some of the korea and vietnam era cast replacement parts.....

you will have better luck and save huge $$ getting the parts here in canada carbines are cheap

M1 Folder

I have an M1 folder but it's tucked away. I have had it for more than 20 years and I will have to check to see if it's a repro or original.
They aren't all that sturdy. But not over built like my Ruger Mini 14 factory folder.

Hey contact148.

That'd be great. I just have to find the time to tear it apart to see what's in it. :) But I'll definitely be giving you a yell once I have. And any source you have for Win parts in Canada would be great.

Hey Albayo.

 if the stock is original it's likely out of my price range as contact148 has indicated.... unless you want to make a life long bud and are willing to part with it for way below market price :D the plus side of that is also ticking contact148 off when I tell him how little I bought it for :dancingbanana: But if you have a repro and want to unload it then definitely lets talk.

DOH....

Nice deal. Sometime you can walk right into a deal.

Older friend of mine had an even older friend that wanted to get rid of his guns cause of the licensing crap. He sold everything but one last rifle that no one wanted. My friend tells me that this guy is gonna take it to the cops to have them destroy it. Well I couldn't have that. Even if I never shoot it I won't let the cops cut it. :) So friend tells me the guy wants $125, I give him the cash and tell him bring me the rifle whenever. Couple months goes by and I've forgotten all about it. Then he shows up at my door with the BIGGEST gun I've seen this side of a Barret. And man is it heavy. And the scope on it is almost two feet long. Well I thanked him and set it in the closet. Years go by and I mean years. Only time I think about this rifle is when I stub my toe on it getting other gusns out. Then surfing ebay for scopes what do I come across.... the scope on my rifle..... with 30 some bids.... going for $750US. Who knew J Unertl scopes were so sought after. And I have no idea how much the rifle itself is worth.
Thing is I still don't shoot the big bastard. :) Was planning on trying to sell it to buy toys more military style. But still just goes to show what can happen when your just trying to do someone a favor.

Hey contact... don't suppose youd want to trade for that M1 Carbine you got for $350? :D
