Hey guys,
My georgeous little Winchester M1 Carbine has a bubba'd front site and i just found a new old stock one to replace it.... And i need that special front site removal tool 'cause i don't feel like spending 100 bucks.
If there is anyone around Ottawa who'd be interested in lending me one I'd really appreciate it,...we can even work in a deal for a couple pints, a coffee, Canadian Tire money...:d. U call it!

If you have one and want to lend it, send me a PM and we'll get talkin.

Thanks!

A special tool is nice, but not necessary.
Rifle in padded vice, then. Front sight pin comes out with a 1/8" punch and a mallet. Left to right, as I recall. Sight comes off the barrel with the drift, a hunk of wood and a mallet, bashing from the rear. Key comes out to the rear with a brass drift and the mallet. (Do not lose the key. Friggin' thing is worth $5.70US.) All assuming Bubba didn't damage the thing and there's little or no staking. Staking is really peening.
Manual is here. Add the W's. Note the need for the provided UN & PW. .biggerhammer.net/manuals/

Sunray is correct. Sight puller is best, but you use a hardwood "hunk of wood" like a dowel, but before you try do anything, give it a good soak in penetrating oil for about 2 days. Key can be removed with vise grips too after you got the sight off.

Thanks guys... I dont mind changing it the old fashion way, i was just hoping someone close by would have a tool to lend. It's a super clean Winchester and i didn't want to Bubba'ize it.
