M1 carbine FTF

My GI M1 carbine was fine when I last shot it 8 or 10 years ago. Tried it recently and bolt will not strip rounds completely off the follower. Mags are GI and I tried factory and reloads. Does this mean I need a new recoil spring? Typically the round will be about halfway off the follower then I have to push the bolt forward to seat the round. I haven't opened rifle or mags to lube or clean yet.TIA.

Thanks GUB. Yes, Hackathorn says they replaced the slide springs as a matter of course. I just ordered a pair.
