M1 carbine kit for 10-22

A while back, I saw a 10-22 that was dressed up to look like a 10-22. Any idea as to where one can get the necessary add-ons?

It does show quite a resemblance to a real M1 carbine, I might have to get a 10/22 because of this. Damn you! =P

Brownells has them, but they exceed the export limit. I have one new in the box, but I haven't figured out if I'm going to buy another 10/22 and use it or sell it. Looks really good, not exact, but convincing.

I did one last year, its easy. The factory stock is so close to the m1 that it doesn't take long to tune it up. A few surplus parts to give it the look(rear sight, barrel band, handguard, etc) and you are done. However, there was another gun nut who posted pics of his with a folding stock that really made mine look like a piece of crap.

You need to chech out a mag. called Shotgun News, in their 9th annual treasury(2008) they have a do it yourself article on just such a conversion.It looks pretty cool and not to difficult,if you modified his stock method you could likely do a much better job. maybe worth a read if your budget conscious and blessed with time. If you look on-line you may find it, Its a great mag BTW all kinds of neat articles
