Question about M1 Carbine magazines.
How do I tell if a 15/30 rd mag is a original GI made as opposed to aftermarket? I've looked at some and can't seem to find any manufacturer's stampings.......do I assume these are aftermarket mags or are the originals also void of any stampings?
Also looking to purchase a bulk lot of brass for reloading (30 M1) any suggestions?
Thanks for your input.

Just took my 1943 Winchester M1 Carbine to the range today. 1 usgi mag and 3 new manufacture. The spring in the usgi mag is worn out and would not feed reliably. I guess since they are so light it’s not uncommon to see original mags not function well today. Keep that in mind if you’re looking for function. So I have my usgi for display purposes, but it won’t see the range again.

On your mags always check to make sure the mag spring was put back in properly. I have had many that were reversed causing feed issues. Just google for info.

Have to wait till September :ang:

I’m waiting to buy the same stuff!

Same, I need some new brass. I had to pull 400rds of 30 Carbine, due to crappy surplus. So I got alot of bullets.

All I got are USGI mags and they all function. I had about 12, and sold some to collectors to make matching guns. But I got about 7-8, with some being new. I wonder how you got them pinned, is what causing feeding issues? All mine have a piece of metal attached to the follower, no rivets in the side.

Ya I will see about taking it apart, looks to be internally pinned, but one of my new mags might have the spring in backwards.

Wolff sells 15 round carbine mag springs. 10 for $50 USD. They do ship to Canada.
