I have one which is US military in an aftermarket stock. Problem......when the stock is folded down the butt plate hits the stock and leaves a mark in the wood. Can someone who has a genuine paratrooper tell me if this is the case with their rifle? Also, is there a "fix" for this? Dave

The butt plate does spin to the left but it is spring loaded (on mine anyway) and never stays there. Mine hits the side of the stock too
It's a usgi Saginaw that I put in an aftermarket paratrooper stock just like what the op done
Love the rifle just wish the ammo was cheaper for it!

Original M1A1 folding stock INLAND carbines mostly have (if not all) these marks due to the butt plate. Same for all retro-fit ones with repro folders. Steel vs. wood, wood comes second.

This is correct. As far as I know, it's a pretty common mark on even the rare USGI originals.
