Hey everyone! Might be a dumb question, but I've exhausted the options I know.

I've got an Auto Ordnance M1 carbine (not the first owner) which needs a new barrel band- the factory one had the actual band separate from the ring that attaches to the barrel. As such, the handguard doesn't stay in place, and since the band is essential to keeping the action in the stock the rifle is completely unsafe to use. However, My email to Khar/Auto Ordnance is unanswered, Numrich won't ship the part across the border ("prohibited item" I assume due to the fact that the part is also used on the prohibited M2), and Brownells doesn't seem to carry the part I need. Does anyone know any sources in Canada or over the border that carry and/or ship an M1 Carbine barrel band? I'd love to get my rifle shooting again.

Thanks a ton in advance!

What style band is it? Type 1,2 etc A gunnutz by the handle gunsdora sell carbine parts give him a pm maybe a GI one will work. Worth a try.

The M1 carbine because it is IDENTICAL receiver to the M2 carbine (only difference is the M2 stamping) parts cannot be shipped from the USA it was specifically named on the no export list. most spare parts in Canada went to the USA where you could get 5x the price over Canada and almost zero demand in Canada try gunsdora on here he may have a barrel band. you will have to remove the front sight to change it knock the pin out one a new rifle it will come off easy use a brass or plastic hammer to knock sight off barrel there is a special tool but its not worth getting for 1 aftermarket sight

Thanks for the help everyone; I ordered a new barrel band out of Europe. Hoping there’s no issues getting it here but so far so good. I was hoping to find a type 2 band, but I settled for a type 3 band as I’m more interested in getting my rifle working again than I am the looks.

I’ve seen YouTube videos recommend the front sight tool as well, but I have a plastic hammer that I’ll probably use instead. I don’t plan on having to change barrel bands again after this, and I don’t plan on buying any more M1 carbines (unless I find another Auto Ordnance in a paratrooper stock...) to justify buying a whole tool for it. Might put that money towards an adjustable rear sight instead.

I love my M1, so here’s to hoping this replacement part does the job! Thanks again everyone.
