Recently picked up an M1 carbine with the original sight on it. no windage or elevation.

How does one adjust windage without a special tool? I want something I can take to the range and make adjustments with to get her zeroed.

the ONLY way is to knock the rear sight over

PLEASE DO NOT try that as you can/will dammage the dovetail in the reciever OR the sight itself

the sight is staked and will require re-stakeing to keep tight once moved this is where breakage is possible as well as driveing it over

the front sight cannot be adjusted (save for fileing the sight down again ruin it)

get used to the point of aim and shoot it that way

thats why the later versions they changed the rear sights to adjustable

the order was to "upgrade" ALL m1 carbines to the adjustable rear sight so yours was missed which increases its value!
