This is just a question because I'm not yet decided if I will build a Garand or not, Criterion barrels are far more superior than Citadel ones?

Depends upon your goal, milsurp competition rifle or plinker? The citadels will be every bit as good as NOS military barrel. Also comes down to your budget citadels being more budget friendly.

I hear they are essentially the same, though info is scarce to come by. Does anyone know if the .308's from Citadel are standard length?

It probably boils down to price and availability. I've done 4 builds with Criterion barrels and find them to be within spec and good shooters. I have a Citadel barrel waiting installation, but it needs to have some stock lathed off the barrel shoulder to index properly. Both the Criterion and Citadel barrels I have are standard length. You could check their websites on the .308/7.62 barrels.

I am building one myself. Originally ordered a Citadel barrel myself. This barrel will not index properly .It cost $320 dollars .Buy a Criterion barrel and you will have a much easier time to install. It cost $400.

I just installed 2 of the Criterion barrels. They were both 22 degrees off vertical index on the selected receivers and timed up nicely. They are short chambered and require finish reaming to establish head space. I was surprised at the amount of reaming required to run the go gauge. With some of the new US GI barrels it only takes a few turns on the reamer to establish head space.
