Hey guys,

Is there any problems with getting an M1 Garand in Canada? Is it non-restricted? I was thinking of getting one since it looks like the stripper clip for it is an exception to the 5 round semi-auto mag limit.

What's your opinion of the M1?

What price range do you figure I'm looking in?

Thanks (be gentle, first post)

The 8-shot Garand "clip" is specifically exempted from the 5-shot semi auto limit. And yes there are plenty of Garands for sale in Canada.

My opinion is they are good guns with a whole bunch of peculiar design features that would never be accepted by today's armies.

The market price is about $600 to $1000 depending on all the usual collectable rifle variables.

They are fantastic rifles. I just got back from shooting mine. I can't wipe the smile off my face.

They are non-restricted as well.

Where do you guys buy your surplus garands?

I remember seeing a link here to a canadian online site in which you could order a garand, they had tons to choose from and were priced according to condition. From what I remember they were the real deal from WW2 and such, some beat to hell, others in very good condition.

I don't know of any local stores that carry them, and I wouldn't mind seeing a large inventory with decent prices like 600-1000$.

Email the dealers above. Go to gun shows. Check the EE as well, thats where I got mine.
