I am looking into finding a new op rod for my 1942 springfield M1 Garand. I am having some issues locating this part, any help would be grateful.
The previous owner had a smart idea to take a file to make it operate more smoothly and now the op rod comes off the bolt and fails to cycle the bolt.
Any help locating a Canadian dealer would help a lot.
Thanks

There are some in the EE from time to time. Numrich ships to canada but I'm unsure of the condition. I'll probably be making an order shortly.

I think I spoke to you at Keith Longs today. Your best bet is probably Ellwood Epps. You would have to call them but I have gotten some hard to find stuff for military rifles for them. The other option is also Numrich, I know you would prefer a Canadian dealer but they do ship to Canada. the part is on https://w ww.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/USMilitary-33541/Rifles-42386/M1Garand-40101/PartsList-37106.htm?page=5.

Yes that was me, small world. Thank you for all your help. You and Keith were very helpful.
I will call Ellwood Epps as soon as i can to check if they have anything.

The op rod lug can be nickle-steel welded and re-ground to shape. Had mine done by a fellow in the States, who not only checked for the proper bends, but brought the lug back to spec.

M1 Rifle op rods are pricey things. Try Western Gun Parts first. Gunparts(AKA Numrich) wants $111.90US plus their $35 US export handling fee and shipping. They do have 'em though. Good, used condition.
