M1 Garand reciever question

Hi all,

I'm attempting to do a 1 year long m1 garand build, I will be buying parts all through out the year. Since, I've seen some m1 garand reciever on sale I figure I might as well start with that. However, I'm not sure which of the following is more desirable and better built, the brettas or breda. From what I understand, both are made in Italy and it seems like the bredas are made on a much smaller scale compared to brettas, where it was mass produced. I figure I could probably seek some wisdom from yall who have experience with these kind of things. Thanks edit:Forgot to ask, which one is easier to build 308 or 30-06? I've heard that utilizing the 308 barrel requires shorting of the stock and the op-rod placement differences.

There is no difference between the Breda and Beretta receivers except for the markings. Somewhere in the mid s/n 5000 range of Danish contract production Breda began making the receivers for Beretta as is seen from the letters "BMR" in the receiver drawing number. There were a bit more than 10,000 of both Breda and Beretta rifles produced on contract for Denmark.

Beretta also produced rifles for the Italian Army and other nations, but the receivers for sale in Canada are all from the Danish contract rifles.

The receiver ($39.95 at present) will be one of the least expensive parts in the project. And there are a lot of parts to source.
