Hey guys, built my M1 Garand 3 years ago and was only able to find 20 rounds of .30-06. Im looking at this gas plug replacement iot shoot commerciakl ammo with it and increase the 'pings'.

Any of you used/use it and would you recommend?

I have been using one for almost 8 years with no issues at all, no breaks no stoppages, no damage. All I shoot in it is commercial winchester 150 gr ammo. I recommend it.

So i ordered one from a z tec armory, which is US and Canada store. They shipped from the US and today i got a call from "CBSA" saying there was an arrest warrant against me for trying to import a prohibited device..... Tried calling them back and got some non english or french speaking person... sounds like a scam but the timing is a little too perfect. Any of you ever had this issue?

Did they ask for a Bitcoin deposit? Sounds very fishy to me.

Nah, it was a robotic voice saying they were CBSA and that i needed to talk to someone and press 1. Working with laws on a daily basis, i thought it didnt sound right. just hung up and called an actual CBSA agent to ask about it. He said i was the 10th person to call them in the last week about that

I had one for a bit and sold it before ever using it. I just load soft for the M1 and decided it wasn't for me.
About 15 years ago when M1's were cheap and USGI 1911's were expensive, I almost traded a guy at the range. I said I need to put another clip through it before I decide, and printed a V shaped group all touching with just the irons and all 8 rounds at 100m, it was maybe a wee bit over an inch and all in the bull, so the deal was off, and I still have that $300 Breda.

I should probably get one. And a new op rod….

Nah...Hitzy has it right, just use mild reloads. My favourite load is 39gr H4895 under a 150gr HPBT or FMJBT bullet. Campro 147gr FMJ bullets work well for me as well. The vast majority of M1 shooters are shooting from 50y/m to 300y/m on a range and you don't need full power loads for that. I've never found a need for a Shuster plug for either my M14/M305 or M1 Garand.
