Springfield M1 made in 1938. Serial #2. Notice Gas Port location on the early rifles. I'll show some other varieties also. These are in a Museum about 20 minutes from the house. The Rock Island Arsenal Museum.

The top rifle in this pic, 6797 is Springfield SN#2.









 
I was looking at the last pic and wondering why you censored certain parts of the collection with white shapes until I realized that they were reflections of ceiling lamps. I was thinking that there's something about the bolt and op rod of #6792 that you thought Canada wasn't ready for yet!!! lol!

Interesting pics, though. The flash eliminator in the 3rd pic down looks like it was specifically meant to flash-blind the shooter at night!

LOL. These are all encased by glass. Some sections far darker than others. Those darned lights! Some pics came out pretty dark. I finally started using flash, but got some reflections from the glass. But I'm going back soon to shoot more.

They have MilSurp's dating back to British times. Amazing to actually see some of these instead of just hearing about them.
