so I finally got to shoot the m1 Garand I just finished building 30.06 using hand loads 147grn canpro bullet over 47grns imr4895 cycles fine

NOS SA bolt and barrel installed timed and head spaced by someone who does this all the time

only brought 32 rnds

shooting at 50 yards both front and rear sight centered

1st 3 shots exactly where I wanted them the rest were from 2-4 inch to the right elevation perfect

I loosened the front sight and moved it over to the left edge of the base it moved impact by about 1/2 inch rear sight still centered

so whats going on here I can move the rear sight over easy enough but I like them centered

I did notice cold barrel the shots were bang on but as barrel heated up it moved right (I took about an hour to shoot 32 rnds so not that hot)

barrel was brand new maybe just me having a bad day????

at least the rifle fed and ejected 100% including the clip ejection

If the rifle is shooting to the right, and you want to move the poi to the left, you would move your rear sight to the left, or your front sight to the right.

I second this. What I would to first is move the front sight and try to leave the rear centered if possible.

If you moved your front sight to the left, it went the wrong way.

It is not unusual for a rifle to need the front sight tweaked a bit to zero.

you know I agree I went the wrong way I was sitting there thinking that the front sight had to go the opposite way I needed it to and then wondered why it was not working......
