M1 Garand Stocks Being Held at Customs???

Hey All,

I ordered a set of walnut replacement stocks from Boyd's for my M1 Garand back in early November and recently received notification that it was being held by customs in Montreal pending an evaluation/investigation to allow it into the country. I'm guessing this is due to someone not understanding the recent federal gun ban and thinking the wording on the invoice to be a typo for an M14 stock or something (might be giving CBSA too much credit on that one tho). I'm particularly concerned that they will unpack and damage the wood or confiscate it all together.

I've ordered from Boyd's many times over the years and never had an issue until now and it's more than a little frustrating considering the cost of exchange and shipping.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with CBSA? If so, how did you resolve it?

Unfortunately, processing at CBSA is not really that standardised to that level of detail. It is very much by interpretation of the policies by the individual handling the package.

M14 /M1a stock are banned now?

Apparently CBSA is taking the position that every small part associated with a firearm listed on the OIC is also verboten and they are holding them at the processing centres for return to the sellers.

What does that have to do with the Garand M1??? Someone going beyond their pay grade and creating new regulation on their own. Get in touch with someone there that knows what they're dealing with. Can't get any joy, call or contact MP Michelle Rempel

I have a package of parts being held for the past couple months from Brownells. Have gone to CBSA website and I can't even find how to contact these clowns to see what's up

Love this government.

Wasnt there an issues years ago. With USGI parts being exported. I know CBSA broke a M14 stock of mine in 3 places, and re packed it and sent it to me.

That was in the early 2000s.

I contacted Numrich and they said they shipped it in a brown box, not white. So they knew it was customs that did it.

The important thing is to buy from a licensed exporter. Garand stocks from Numrich/GPC come thru without a problem. A few yrs ago I had a nice Garand stock from eBay confiscated by Homeland Security because the vendor didn't have an export license. That was an expensive lesson.

Just ordered $450 worth of parts from Numerich for my Garand project. Parts are now being held by the CBSA. I will update when I know more. Grrrrrrr!!

The parts were released yesterday and on there way to me now. I had parts that went through Richmond CBSA even with the flooding that made it quicker than Mississauga got these out. Just happy they are coming.

CBA has been slow due to Covid and the Xmas period. I had some warranty parts for my RCBS primer tool in customs for 11 days and one Pkg in Burnaby for 16 days by the Post Office. Tis the season to be jolly and also patient. Trudeau cut funding for the CBA which likely has impacted service as well.

I should add I also have a pkg in Mississauga that has been there for 14 days. They may end up charging me storage fees. :>)

Take Care

Bob
