hi every one my name is cory. I enjoy hunting and shooting, first shot a shotgun when i was 3yrs old. I was wondering if anybody new where i could get a scope mount for my m1 garand. i would like to keep using the original sights. thanx for any help i may receive.

M1's don't take scope mounts well. They were never intended to be scoped. Adding a scope to an non-sniper variant will drop the value in half.
The aftermarket mounts that are available go on the barrel, using a special or modified hand guard or require holes be drilled and tapped on the receiver.
The sniper variants had the mount drilled and tapped onto the left side of the receiver.

There are cantelever mounts that replace the rear sight and don't require any gunsmithing. You can go back to normal rear sight in ten minutes if you wish.

I'm not to worried about the value of my rifle on the acount i will never be selling it. But why is it they don't take scope mounts that well.

Do you have a M1 right now, or are hoping to get one. The M1 rifle loads from the top with a 8 round .30-06 enbloc clip and a scope would mount right where the clip is inserted, so to properly mount the scope it has to be mounted to the side. If you really want a scope mounted M1 type rifle order one of the M14S rifles that have just been imported by MARSTAR. About 1/2 the price of a M1 rifle, is .308/7.62 magazine fed from the bottom and a normal top center mounted scope mount is available.

"...why is it they don't..." Mostly due to the top loading and ejection. A scope must go on the left side or on the barrel. It can't go over the action. The scope will be in an awkward place to use quickly. Scoping one buggers up the balance too.
