It is exempted from the 5 round limit by name in the Firearms Act.
There is also an exemption for the Lee Enfield, even though it's a bolt action (no mag limits) because at one point there were a few prototype Semi-auto lee enfields. There are none in Canada (and likely only a few in museums), but just goes to show you the 'logic' in the FA.
