Awhile ago I broke the gas piston nut on my M1 carbine and finally ordered one. I found out the threads are buggered. I need a 0.500 -32ns3 tap to chase them.
First option would be does anyone local have one I can use for a few minutes. I am in NS, Rawdon and willing to travel a couple of hours.
Second option does anyone know where I can buy one ?
Hopefully I can get shooting again before too long as I do enjoy shooting it.

How buggered? I would think a forming tap rather than cutting tap (which could be made easier than finding) would be the way to go

an easy fix might be a very small cutter in a Dremmel to just re-form the first thread entry point and the poppet collar will form its own track from there on in.
The buggered thread is probably just the staking punch mark left from an armourors poppet change
