A FRIEND SAYS HIS DAD HAS A SELECTIVE FIRE M1 GARAND. I CANT FIND ANY REFERENCE ON THESE, BUT AN M1 carbine WITH SELECTIVE FIRE DOES EXSIST=m2. WHAT CATAGORY LIC IS NEEDED FOR AN M2?? ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL. ps i havent seen it yet, to clarify which they have.

For an M2 carbine, I think you need a 12.3 prohibited, since it would be have to be converted auto. Im not even sure if you can get M2's, but if you could, that would be the license I think.

He may be talking about an American Millitary M14, which is basically a select fire garand with a detachable mag. You would need a 12.3 for that aswell, unless you buy a Norinco, in which case it would be Non-restricted. An M1 garand would be non-restricted aswell and an M1 carbine would be restricted.

If it's still select fire, it's 12(2). If you don't have 12(2) on your PAL now, you can't get it.

If it's converted auto, it's 12(3). If you don't have 12(3) on your PAL now........

Only select fire Garand I can think of is the BM59

There were some select-fire M1 Garands, during the development of what eventually became the M-14. I saw one in Springfield.

Rare as Hell, though; and not likely to be the case here.

could just be an m1 carbine with the m2 kit any usgi spec m1 carbine can be changed to m2 with NO mods to reciever just drop in parts (NOT LEGAL TO DO THAT)
