M1 stock question.

i have a new Garand stock,and every time i fire the weapon the trigger guard un hooks. can anyone explain why? this only happens on this certain stock. thanks for any advice. rob

Could be that your stock has compressed or that the trigger gaurd is worn . Check the locking lugs on the trigger gurd , the should be round but are often distorted . Sometimes you can peen them with a hammer lightly to get them to tighten up , but this is often only a temporary fix . You can cut a shim from a beer can where the trigger group goes in the stock (On the sides) . This will often tighten things up .

Which trigger guard? A stamped one(no hole where the guard locks into the action) can be tapped forward a tick. Be gentle.

i believe its the stock,the trigger assy,trigger guard didn't unhook when changed to a different stock. its a stamped guard i believe. thanks.
